Marantz Pre-processor

With @Landmonster doing his extensive search (Kudos BTW for getting it done), I started looking at other processors. My Integra has gone in a direction I'm not in favor of.

I've been looking at the Marantz Pre's and read a few unfavorable reviews regarding longevity.

Does anyone have any lengthy experience with: AV8802A and or the AV8805?

Many thanks!

Thank you for the reply. The gist so far is that at the 3 year mark, it decides to take a rest. I hope yours goes past the "3" mark I've read about.

I haven’t looked in a little while, but I’ve never heard or read people having problems with Marantz longevity. I’m interested where you’re reading this? I had the AV8801 (predecessor to the AV8802A) for over 5 years and never had a problem. I’ve had the AV8805 now for over 1.5 years without a problem.

Onkyo has had reliability issues in the past with HDMI board failures. Wasn't aware of any issues with Marantz.

I read these reviews on Amazon. One lasted 3 years, one had an HDMI failure at 2 years, and one poor fellow went through 3 units before getting it right.

Of course MOST of the reviews are rave! Very satisfied customers overall.

I've been eyeing the 8802A for a while now, LOVE the copper rear and the 8802A looks to suit my set up tastes!

I certainly appreciate the feed back here!

In the very beginning marantz was having problems with their Hdam modules they used in both receivers and processors. Other than that I've not read or heard anymore about it.
