cop shows

Options
something i noticed, on older cop shows when they were going to a home or apartment looking for someone, they would always send a cop or two to the rear of the place in case someone tries to run. they don't do that any more in the new cop shows so guess what the criminal always runs out the rear.
what happened?

In the old days, you couldn't say "runs out the rear" on television. :o

As evidenced by society today they must not teach this any longer.

    MeTV, different times, dufferent attitudes.

Like "Barreta" and his "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time" !

What sort of neanderthal thinking is that ?!

just look up "word association" by Chevy Chase and Richard Prior. There is zero chance it would ever be seen on TV today. Sadly, I believe we have gone backwards in many ways since the 1970's and 80's...

Crazy how times have changed, sometimes the other way around in that some things you used to be able to say on TV you now can't and vice-versa.

The station AntennaTV that shows vintage shows recently started showing The Jeffersons. It is quite shocking in this day and age to hear honky & the N word regularly used on that show. :o

I'm more surprised they don't beep it out...

Man, I LOVED The Jeffersons when I was a kid! I watched that show every night. I'm sure there was a lot of humor I didn't understand but it was still great. I know we hurled those insults back and forth at each other in school and laughed. I still use George Jefferson jokes and sayings.

Great info Rick, I just checked out MeTV. Lots a great favorites in there. Even got Saturday morning cartoons in the lineup.

Gotta catch the Buck Rogers shows. Still got a crush on Princess Ardala, and I didn't realize when I was a kid how hot Wilma Deering was.

This is kind of interesting. I've never heard of at least eighty percent of these and the other twenty percent I may have seen like eight.

They just recently added the cartoons on Saturday.

Another fun thing to do is go to their website and take the quizzes they have on old shows.

Good for you, that stuff will rot your brain.

Just to clarify: I didn't use the actual N word and didn't realize some may be offended by what I posted as that was certainly not my intention. I didn't realize that typing N word was the same as saying/typing the actual word. I don't condone the use of it and NEVER say it myself. I was simply meaning to discuss how times have changed, nothing more.

You did NOTHING wrong in my view.

Never apologize to the “woke mob”, especially when you did nothing wrong.

On another note, I remember HATING All In the Family when I was a kid - seriously, that show was a fate worse than death for a 8 year old kid. NOW however, I find it wildly funny, and know that it would NEVER play on regular tv. Same for Married With Children - that show would never be made today. All we seem to get now on network tv is the endless idiot parade in whatever the latest “reality” show craze is.

Luther is a good cop show. It's a British show with Idris Elba. It's not about forensics or high-tech like so many cop shows these days. It's more situational and psychological.
