PSW111 distortion

Options
Yesterday my out of warranty (2012 manufacture date) PSW111 sub started distorting. It is most noticeable at low volumes. The volume of the distortion seems constant. If I turn up the source amp volume, the bass output drowns out the distorted audio. I've tried both the line level and speaker level inputs and checked the board for leaking or damaged caps; none evident. The speaker is not blown as higher volume bass sounds fine. Here is a link to a video clip.

Does Polk service these subs or sell replacement boards. I'd hate to just trash this speaker. Thanks.

It sounds like a dust cap might be loose. I had a Klipsch woofer make that sound.
It WAS a loose dust cap.

Or maybe a wire hanging down on the back of the cone. I've had that happen too.

Lastly, maybe the spider has come unglued in a section of it. I've had that happen and it sounds "kind-of" similar too. But your woofer distortion sounds high pitched. Loose spiders sound floppy and lower pitched.

I also have a PSW 111 and think highly of its abilities. ;)B)

    I hope it's a SIMPLE fix. That's a nice little subwoofer!
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
