Connector

What size is the barrel connector for the dc power supply on a Polk command bar? I need to order an extension cable and want to make sure I have the right size. Thanks in advance.

    Measure it yourself.

  • I’m not an audio tech, nor an electronics expert. Just an average guy hoping to get an answer so I can order the right part. I wouldn’t know how to measure it or know what tool(s) to measure it with. I’ve googled enough to know it’s a barrel connector and that it’s probably a standard size, but I can’t find the specification for the specific standard or size in any of Polk’s documentation.

Use a ruler to measure the length and diameter.

  • I can try that. Thank you. I think there’s an inside diameter for the pin. How would I go about measuring that? Again, thanks for helping me out.

Are you looking for a male or female plug head? Male is on the left in the pic.

  • I’m looking to order an extension cord I can attach to the existing male end that normally plugs into the sound bar. So on one end it would have a female end to receive the existing male end and on the other a male end to plug into the sound bar. Looking for about 6-8 feet of extension. There’s plenty of extension cords out there, I just don’t know if I’m looking for a 5.5mm x 2.1mm or a 4..3mm x 3.4mm or a 5.5mm x 2.2mm connector

A dial or digital caliper is a very handy tool. Otherwise, BlueFox's suggestion to buy all of them and return the ones that don't fit isn't a bad idea.

Anthony, you’ll find these guys to be a wealth of knowledge, but my brief experience here has shown me they’d rather teach you how to fish, instead of just giving you one.
  • If you have a set of drill bits that can help you to get an idea of the inside dia. Dial calipers seem to be ridiculously cheap nowadays with everything made in China (sigh), even the stainless steel ones. I wouldn't get a plastic one personally.
