Gym Membership

So today was a strange day, I cancelled my Gym Membership due to Covid.
I felt strange canceling as I have been a member since 2014. But I don't plan on going in there anytime soon due to Covid so I decided to stop paying for something I'm terrified to use. I can see Gym's being a place where it could spread like mad so I'm good working out at my home.
Anyone else cancel their membership?
Dan

I am thinking about cancelling mine. I have been just paying it even though not using it, but this is going to drag on for awhile.

I fell right into the gym routine, I really miss it.

2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

Mine closed, but also quit charging me...thank goodness. I was going to try and join another gym now that things have settled down a bit, but you have to wear a mask.

I could probably lift weights with a mask on, but no way I'm going to run on a treadmill with one on.

Sadly, these pandemic pounds are not coming off by themselves!

Cancelled mine as well. I wasn't using it regularly even before covid. I kept it active in hopes I'd get back into the swing. Gave up on that.

I had a membership many years ago but never really used it. Got weights, elliptical machine, and spin bike at home instead and saved a lot of money. Never liked the social aspect of a gym anyway.

No way would I go in a public gym for the next few months, but exercise is still critical for good health even if it is just going for a walk every day with a dog.

Not even sure if gyms are open around here.

I will probably pay my fall university fee just to support my friends that work there, but I’m not going to workout there. My wife and I do F-45 together at home. We use this online gym: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCDEN9DLtdOc9Ict-4n0j2KQ

We love f-45 workouts. You get 5 body weight workouts a week for 7.99, or that plus 6 workouts with equipment for 14.99 a month, which is what we do. Or you can pay $20 and do the live zoom workouts, which might be worth it if you’re working out alone. You can basically do almost everything with a sandbag, resistance bands, and a stool or plyo box which I built.

I'm so thankful I have a well stocked home gym as it's almost impossible to find any quality gear now except from the gyms that have gone under and are liquidating their stock.
In my case I could never warm up to the gym scene even years before the virus. Now they're definitely off limits

The gym my wife goes to suspended payments until the building reopens. what is really getting me mad is that we continue to pay for our monthly parking downtown and have not used it since March. There is a 2500 person wait list if we cancel, they are not willing to at least refund us 50%.... anyway that's another issue.

My gym suspended dues. I did cancel.
Wife ordered a home workout gym.
I'm getting flabby again, so it's time

  • This thread is OK in my book.

On a side note, I'm considering doing the same thing @mantis I'm more of a cardio girl anyways, only thing I will miss is the pool.

My wife cancelled hers, they are requiring masks. She just couldn't imagine doing any kind of a workout with a mask...

I need to cancel mine. I haven't been in a year for various reasons, but I am working out at home. The gym just has so much more equipment. One thing I can't do at home is hamstrings. Miss that.

Hey Bud just get too things: make a sandbag (lots of diy instructions) and get a kettlebell. Good mornings and kettlebell swings here you come! Oh And do weighted hip thrusts...those’ll work your hams and gluts!
