Random trivia

If you have a
1.5 inch sill plate
9.25 floor joist
3/4 inch subfloor

you have to tell your Mason how far below an existing structure he has to have the height of his wall. How much lower than the existing structure would you go to be flush.

A. 10.75"
B. 11.5"
C. 12.25"
D. 10"

How thick are the mortar joints, how tall will the wall be?

The top of the existing structure subfloor is the main measurement, we are just looking how much lower from the existing structure should the final masonry wall be so that the two subfloors are level.

The sill plate is 1.5", 9.25" floor joist, 3/4 subfloor

The masonry wall can be built and adjusted to accommodate this measurement

    Modular Brick at 2-1/4
    Joint width at 3/8-ish

11-1/2” but you will go to the next full brick size unless you are cutting.

    12-3/4”...

Yup. That's what we came up with.

But Ah-ha! You all forgot to factor in for the height of the crushed 7/11 Big Gulp and hot dog box to be built over.

There's back story obviously, but 11.5 appears to be the winner 🤔🤔🤔🤔
