I did something “Normal” today!

Options
I have been going to work everyday,(I’m a letter carrier),but, work has been far from normal. I feel like I’m delivering mail in a post apocalyptic world. However, today I went to the garage and fired up my summer ride,a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona. Then off to the shed and fired up all four motorcycles. After that, fired up the lawn mower, and cut the lawn for the first time this spring. I have to say,it felt good to do something “normal”. I found it very therapeutic.
What have you done that made you feel normal?

Very nice! I fired up my Harley's the other day! Went for a bike (bicycle) ride a few days ago, most likely will go out again today!

Last night the family and I enjoyed a large bonfire in the backyard for a couple of hours...it's still smoldering as I type. We saw more stars than I believe we have ever seen before and only 3 airplanes the entire time.

It was unusual for the planes, as we live about 35 miles from Charlotte-Douglas International airport and usually as one appears over the tree lines, the other one fades out over the other treeline. One right after the other. Not last night. It was surreal but beautiful.

Yesterday delivered a new prepped laptop to an animal hospital for the office manager to use for remote access to her office computer(s) in case she has to work from home, either by necessity or choice. Had a relaxed (masked) in-person personal and professional conversation with the lead doctor there. Stopped by a friend's house on the way home to drop off a couple of things. Also had a lengthy (distanced) talk with him near his front porch.
Nice to be out and about on a beautiful day in metro Atlanta.
Being extra careful for the sake of my octogenarian clients/friends/mother.

So I did get off my arse and went for a bicycle ride!

Stopped and talked to a neighbor on the way back, turns our his wife who works at Henry Ford Medical got infected, as did he, 2 young kids did not, but they all recovered.

I maintained a good distance while talking to him today. Wow. Just never know.

I shared that with the Mrs, and of course she yelled at me. Yep, back to normal!

I went to our local lumber yard (NOT Home D, too many people outside just waiting to get in) and bought about $200 worth of materials to start working on finishing our laundry room. I got a bunch of the walls framed out and can't wait to finish it. Thanks to our bathroom fiasco a year ago, most of the stuff in the laundry room got ripped out due to mold from the hidden water leak. It was still functional for washing/drying clothes, but not much to look at. Looking forward to getting this done finally.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Rehabbed my grill. New burners, flavor bars, and ignitor. Then polished it. Grill is 10 years old, first time I've had to do anything to it. Buy quality, buy once.

I agree on the Weber’s. I’m on my second. The first lasted about 15 years before I decided to replace it and even then it was only because I wanted a new larger one.

We visited, with appropriate distancing, of course, our daughter, son-in-law & two grandchildren. They live 1/2 hour from us. Had an absolutely wonderful afternoon -- outdoors on a beautiful and warm (60 degree) spring day!

Sounds like all of you had good normal activities. I havent watched the nightly news since thursday so that helps. Changed the oil, spark plug, filter in the lawn mower and cut grass for the first time this year. I sweet talked the wife to give me a nice high and tight haircut since I hadn't been to the barber in 3 months, she did such a good job I doubt I will ever need a barber again she did that good. I also put new tubes on two of the Mountain bikes, and since the yard work is done I plan on us going for a ride after work tommorow. It was like almost normal beautiful sunny spring day. I will probably get a beer sit outside and throw the ball to the dogs here in a bit. Stay Safe everyone.

My parents live about 20 minutes from us; my dad called yesterday and said he was fed up with his 15 year old John Deere not starting and was going to put it by the curb with a free sign on it. He ordered a new one from Lowe’s to be delivered this week. I trailered my riding mower over to his house, mowed his lawn and picked up the old one he was getting rid of. Spent yesterday and today changing the battery, changing the oil and filter, took off the carburetor and cleaned it, replaced the air filter, changed the spark plug, greased the deck, took the engine shroud off and cleaned out the many mouse nests in there and replaced the deck belt. Runs like a top now. Told my dad to cancel his order on the new one but he refused so I am giving the John Deere to my father in law who just had his hip replaced awhile back. Spent a bit of time talking to my parents from a good distance (after my moms health scare over the summer I want to be extra careful around them). Was nice to get outside and have a project to work on. I am almost out of projects here - but going to clean out the shed, run electrical, hang some shop lights and rearrange a workspace In there this week / next weekend.

Rode my Goldwing to Costco and kept my Aerostich suit on with my mask and riding gloves on in store. Picked up 4 dozen eggs and laundry detergent. Then rode to Menards and picked up some new wall outlets for my daughters room. Came home and tilled the garden.

Started some planting in the veggie garden, can't put too much in yet as nights are still dipping below freezing. Replaced some raise bed borders with rough cut 4X4s after treating with linseed oil. Then emptied 3 truck loads(8' bed) of crushed stone by hand onto the garden paths. Put some burgers on the grill and enjoyed an IPA on the deck as a reward for my hard work.

Trimmed some low hanging branches on the big tree in my back yard which I have to do every few years so the grass would get enough sunlight to grow. Planted some flowers, pulled some weeds and did a general clean up of the back yard around our deck. Going to replace one of our deck fans and repair some of the grout on our flagstone patio.
