The picky eater test......

I passed with all but Nutella. Sorry but I have some sort of undiagnosed phobia of eating something that looks like (you know)...Sorry. Just can NOT do it. I tried liver once. Involuntarily offered it back to the table it was presented to me on. Nutella looks like the same thing to me. Just can't do it.

What is that one thing that no matter what....you just CAN'T do?

Tom

I've had everything on that list.

The only one I won't necessarily do again is Escargot.

I know it's a delicacy but seems like famine/survival food to me. Didn't like the texture or the tastes. Maybe it just wasn't prepared well but you can keep it. Might try it again if there's significant difference in apparent quality but it'd be the last thing I'd get on a menu.

    17. There were a few things I've never had.

The big one is the eggs. My Grandma and I decided that if it wasn't for the taste, the look, the texture, and the smell, we could both enjoy eggs greatly. ;)

The rest was veggies, raw fish, and tofu. and pickles. :)

Liver is a no go for me, much to my wife's dismay. Parents tried to make me it when I was a kid. After the second bite I upchucked...never tried to make me eat it again.

6 for me, though to be honest, I've never tried escargots, raw fish, or oysters (but I am certain I would not want to anyway so I counted them). Liver is the one set-in-stone thing I absolutely won't go near - but throw some braunschweiger on an onion bagel and I'm there. Go figure.

I am surprised that no one mentioned bleu cheese, that's a common thing for people to dislike.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

4 on my count. #1 no go...LIVER. Taste, texture and even saying "organ meat" is wrong. Also a no go, brain and kidney. Especially if it's function is to rid the body of toxins. Me saying "I'll take the meat that has all the toxins and the lady will have the salad"...uh, ain't gonna happen. However, escargot, bring it on.

Two of my favorites Oysters on the half shell and Liver (chicken or beef) heck toss in some chicken gizzards and hearts scrumptious...

I will say this it is proven to me anyway. some friend had invited me to the beerfest. I went (first time) had no idea what I was getting in to. They had me HAMMERED in about two hours. after about 4 hrs. I was on my way down BIG TIME. They had the bright idea of taking me to a fancy seafood joint and ordering two large plates of oysters. I had never tried them before, BUT I was drunk enough to give it a whirl. I ate about 12 they were very good. I'm here to tell you about 20min later it was as if I had not drank any beer. I found out later that day this was something my friend had experienced as well so anytime they went to the beerfest 1 hour drive from home first stop before driving home was oysters and an appetizer before the drive.

I have had that experience with oysters and alcohol now twice so there is something to those little filter feeders removing alcohol from your system.

They missed the most divisive food I know of -- cilantro :p
I loves me some cilantro. To some folks, it tastes just like soap.

Most of the things on that list are fine by me -- I am not crazy about liver, mostly because of having come in contact with too many still more-or-less alive ones in my grad school days :| Bury cooked liver in fried onions and serve some ketchup on the side... and it's edible. And, heck, braunschweiger is pretty tasty when sandwiched (yes, I am verbing again) with some mustard. :)

I don't like many kinds of cooked fish, but there some that are just fine -- and I am fine with most shashimi. Heck, I've eaten and enjoyed fugu -- and lived to tell about it!
