So I scored, a literal brand new in the box, never been used pair of definitive tech power monitors (speakers are 20 years old!) ... Somehow though there are two marks on one of the caps, not so much as swirl marks elsewhere, literally brand new still in the packaging.

Anyways, anyone know of someone who can restore this to new??

Hard to tell, are those chips?

The finish is likely either car paint or polyester. Hopefully, Def Tech can tell you which. If car paint a body shop is in order. If polyester a piano repair shop should be able to repair it.

    That means it's polyester.

    A Sharpie?

It will be difficult to fix this at home without leaving a trace. Even if you get the exact paint you will then have to sand it with the right grit sandpaper and then use the right polish. Even then it will never be perfect. You could get 90% there with a gloss black car "touchup" paint. It looks like a bottle of nailpolish and you can find it in any car parts store. Use thin coats and fill in the chips. It might be a little raised when you are finished but I would avoid trying to sand it unless you are a professional.

Yeah I may end up using the sharpie, but I am just disappointed as they were advertised as new and they had the blemish, was just excited.

May take it by an auto body shop at some point

    Thanks guys

Lacquer is very easy to spray. You might not be able to match it completely, but could probably get close. You wet sand lacquer and then buff it out.

If you don't want to do that, then take it by a body shop like you said and see what they say.

It's not lacquer, it's not car paint. It is polyester.

I used to repair chips like that for new home construction.
I repaired bathtubs and even though most are almond or white, black porcelain tubs and tiles were not unusual.
Call a bathtub repair shop and tell them what you have and they might come out and do the repair on the spot.
Depending upon where the chip is it may always be seen if light shines directly onto your repair.

To further that comment above, the process used to touch that up is called “burn in”
We do that here in Atl
The trick for that is to find the putty to match and a clear coat that will blend.

    The process :

    Great video
All are techs carried mohawk repair kits for cabinet repairs simular to that
We basically did auto body repair on bathtubs
Personally I would have filled it and spray the one panel to make it a uniform color or at least blend it out with airbrush
Cool thing you have going in Atlanta

    Actually,
you could just face it with a veneer panel that would be cut to fit and already high gloss black or color match it to correct sheen
Make sure it fits and looks good before you apply the veneer

In guitar repair, I used to color a chip in with an appropriate colored sharpie and lay a drop of krazyglue over it until it was built up slightly higher that the surface.
Then I'd take a one sided razor blade and put a piece of scotch tape over each side of the sharp edge, leaving a gap in between.
Keeping the blade upright, I'd gently back drag the untaped edge over the glued area until it was level with the finish around the repair.
After that it was lots of sanding with emery paper, then 0000 steel wool and ultimately some Maguires auto buffing compounds.
To get the final gloss, I'd use Simi-Chrome motorcycle polish.
It's not a job for the squeamish, but done correctly works quite well.
There's youtube videos by a repairman named Mark Erliwine on the subject.
