Help ID these Silver faced tweeters.

I cant remember where I got these from. I'm a little confused as the are marked 5514 like the peerless. They are also marked M5 for Monitor 5 I guess??? But I dont see a single pic of a monitor 5 with this silver face plate.

Are these SL1000?

    Any idea what they may have been oem in? I dont think I've ever seen a pair of polk with this silver face.

    They were in a ton of vintage Polk's. Too many for me to remember and list.

    Apparently the date of mfg is 51st week of 1983

    It was Polk's attempt at making their own Peerless. It's a horrible tweeter.

    So... I went sleuthing.
    These look like SL1000s in the "Monitor Series" loudspeakers -- unfortunately, between the scan quality and the ad's being in black and white, one is not absolutely certain :|

    Numerous ads in the 1983-4 time frame show Polks with what look to be SL1000. I was busy in grad school and starting a family in that same time frame, so I was kinda out of touch :p The array (no pun intended) of models in that era, to me, is bewildering. :p

    Interesting that the Model 10s price came DOWN to $325 in 1983 or 1984. I paid $350 for my 7B in 1979

    I actually found it better than the sl2000 to my ears. I also had several that the pole piece glue let loose and froze up the voice coil.

    Oddly enough. I saw a pair of 8T's last night online with this same tweeter. Only the dome was black. Silver faceplate, Peerless looking.

    @pitdogg2 The 5514xx83 tweeter I bought on eBay has the pole piece and the magnet glued with a clear adhesive similar to the Ultimate Strength Gorilla Glue I am using from now on. There is no glue on the other side of the magnet.

    Correction: Danish 1979 Peerless Tweeter that was originally in my 7B
