CD player under $400

Been thinking on it. Since I only have a couple SACD's maybe I should be looking for a dedicated cdp and keep the Oppo. Gotta stay under $400.

I'd gladly offer you one from the Strategic Disc Player reserve in the basement... but unless you just want something to spin and maybe even read a disc, I doubt that anything there'd be of interest :|

That said, the price would be right (i.e., cost of shipping).
There's really nothing interesting down there... 'cept a couple of elderly players that aren't early enough to be valuable, but are pretty beefily built ;)
    e.g.,

(I've got two of these... not sure I actually have two remotes, though)

Gotta love that cool "Digital" font ;)

FWIW, I picked up a 6006 a few weeks back, a bit over budget but it works real well for me.

    I've got my eye on a 6006 at Accessories4less. It's a refurb but 3 year warranty.

Sony ES CD players are rock solid. My son has my old 508 iirc I bought brand new in 86/87 and it has hundreds of thousands of hours on it never ever had to replace anything on it. My old x33es I recapped and it has been rock solid in the laser department for decades. Sony used Elna dourex electrolytic caps in the X33 and they were the most corrosive caps known to man when they leaked. It is why I recapped mine of almost 50 caps to Elna Silmic II and it made it a better player and will never have cap problems again. It is still going strong. You want a good cheap CD player that plays/sounds good find a Sony dvp S7700 can be had cheap and are sweet. I have one I bought for 50.00.
