Not earth shattering but irritating none the less. About a month ago My car wouldn't start so I called my mechanic and had it towed to him. $70 . Needed alternator. $450.
Two weeks ago. Same problem. Tow $70 again. Monday before Christmas and he couldn't look at it until Friday after Christmas. So I loose holiday pay for missing day before holidays. Three days pay gone. Pick it up Friday after work. Needs a battery $130 Go to start it Saturday and same problem. Tow again $70. So he replaced alternator again. No charge but he says that's not the problem and he has no idea what it could be. So off it goes to another shop. Another $120 for tow and diagnose. Alternator is the problem. Tow back to original guy to put a good alternator in. Another $150 and 2 weeks with no car. Needed rides everywhere and no rental to be found.

Had a similar thing happen to me. Alternator was squealing. Went to Volvo dealership & they said they could not work on it for 3 weeks. GREAT
Service Manager said "its not the alternator" without even looking at car... So I drive home. Next day I go to respectful garage that does work for me. He says YES it's the alternator. 450.00 later. I pick it up. Drive 1/2 mile down road & same squeal. I call him up & he says he isn't sure.... The alternator bolts to block. No belt. Shaft thru block & then out to pulley. Belt off pulley to PS Ac. Get home I smell rubber. That belt on pulley was the issue. Another 275.00 repair bill.... I will be a SOB the new aftermarket refurbished alternator has issues. Lights flicker. Voltage regulator I think. My old stock good Volvo alternator was picked up by the Napa driver for core charge. The lights flicker still. I give up

I’m on a two-weeks-long 40th wedding anniversary trip with my wife.

Last Tuesday evening we wen to a classy seafood restaurant in London, where we enjoyed a fantastic dinner with a fine bottle of Champagne with my daughter and her husband, who were visiting her husband’s mother in London. My daughter and I shared a half dozen freshly shucked oysters.

Starting at 3:00 AM Wednesday morning, I started spewing sickness from both ends of the digestive track, and my daughter started about six hours later.

We both pretty nearly recovered on Thursday, but this experience was not in the plan for our London and Paris vacation.

Well lets see. I have so many to choose from...

Back in 2012 I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. I was told I only had a 70% chance of surviving with surgery and treatment. My wife at the time figured I was a goner so while I was in the hospital started a relationship with her doctor. After I recovered and was able to go back to work I caught her with him after coming home from work early and "according to the police report" discovered they were plotting to kill me. Luckily for me I always travel with a side arm and when they came up to my truck with guns I put a round in the chamber of the 45. Now I always qualified expert in the Army with a hand gun and my wife, who knew this, saw I had loaded and started running away. He turned and saw his backup bail and decided he'd better hide behind his vehicle. My wife called 911 and said she heard a gun shot and thinks I committed suicide. She hid in the woods till the cops came and I let him drive away under the understanding that what he did was wrong and never to see her again.

Well the SWAT team came and the special crimes negotiator told me to come outside unarmed (of course) so we could "talk" . After it was all over they all gave me my guns back saying "you're going to need these"

    Good times.

    There top that!

Wow! Hope your cancer has gone away. You should sell this story to a soap opera.

The worst thing that's happened lately; one of my Tube Mono Blocks took a dump yesterday. Smoke coming out of the top when powered on :#

After some over the phone diagnosis, I'm shipping it back to the Dealer. Hopefully it will be repaired and back here in a couple of weeks, as I am scheduled for the L200 Demo at about that time frame.

No backup Amplifiers on hand! First World Problems ;)

@afterburnt advised that the problem was that oysters were eaten in a month (either December or January) that had an “R” in it. @txcoastal1 correctly stated that this was backwards. Having lived in Alabama for a few years, where I first tried raw oysters, it was common knowledge that oysters should be avoided in months without an “R” in it. Miss me some Apalachicola oysters.

Bruce is stating the opposite if my reading fundamentals are working today. Yes you and I are stating the same. Only eat them in months WITH an R

Correct as months WITH an R are cold weather months usually. May through August they spawn and the meat is not as good and you are more likely to ingest bad bacteria from the warmer waters and get very sick. In days of old before modern refrigeration that R stood for cold as Ice kept better to ship them inland safer.

You can always eat Rocky Mountain oysters in months without the "R".

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.
