We will have 1.5 days stay in the city area before getting on a train to Vancouver for a cruise. Any suggestions on where to stay and what to do/see? Would prefer hotel with water view if we can swing it. I guess Pike Place is worth the visit?
Yep, my name really is Bob.

I second Pike Place Market:
Pike Place Market
Pike Place Market. Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington, United States. The Market opened August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States.
Especially the Fish Market where the fish are thrown:

As mentioned above by Wagner there are some sad sights. If you do Pike Market you will likely start somewhere near the Fish Market. As you head north and out side at the end there is a park. I would avoid it. Full of homeless drug addicts. You will smell the drugs. At least last time we were there it was like that.

We used to take our kids to Seattle every weekend in the 80’s and 90’s it was the best.
Right now we have not stepped foot or spent on dime in Seattle.
Just google the “Seattle is dying” if you want to see how bad it is.
It makes me sick. When I say be careful , it’s no joke. -
But..... the Copper River Salmon and calamari we would get there was AMAZING. Now that we live in FL I can't eat Salmon. It's just not the same.
-
CH46E,
Agree about the Salmon in Seattle especially the smoked.
What about the geoduck clams?

The Edgwater looks great but probably won't fit the budget. Washington Park Arboretum looks interesting. Def will visit Pike Place and probably the needle.Yep, my name really is Bob.

It all started with their socialist city council. The city has spiraled out of control. I believe Seattle is very similar to San Francisco.

Seattle dying, how about the whole nation. When you teach manipulated history, how can you teach to not make the same mistakes.

Yea lets teach the "new" history without the warts and such. I'm just amazed at what kids do not learn anymore as they seem to think it's so unnecessary.

One of the major reasons we are teaching our children from home. We want them to know history. Not some watered down narrative.

How did I miss Pearl Jam??
Of course.
Nirvana ground breaking yes but although I do have 2 CD's from them(Nevermind, In Utero) I just could never get into them like the others. -
We do miss Seattle. Looks like we left just in time.
But I HATE FL. Next move will be back to the desert. Where they have In-N-Out, and lakes/rivers that I dont have to be worried about being eaten by something! Like gators and sharks. -

Pyramid brewing would be great for a beer and fish n chips.
Across the street from the stadium. -
Elysian Brewing, among many other local and regional beers. Enjoy your visit! It’s a great tourist-friendly city. Maybe not so much for living in and driving around anymore.

I see there is a pinball museum there, haven't played since I was a kid. If it's a "hands on" experience....worth the time to visit?Yep, my name really is Bob.
