    Zombie thread!
Personally I'd not use Sony ES at all with Polk LSI. I've always found the ES series beyond 2000 to be very very flat.

I had a 5300ES then Sony replaced it with a 5700ES for free. both were very nice AVR's great on music. One thing Sony didn't do well on was movies. My Marantz is by far better than either of the two on movies and can hold it's own on music.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

I have that receiver 11 years old solid as a rock. When I went to LSI 15.s and an Lsic center, monitor 70,s side suuround,s. I added an Emotiva XPA5 gen 1. It as well is solid runs cool. The only thing my ES5300 powers are two FXI 3,s for my rear surrounds.
