California Audio Show 2019 - July 26th-28th

The countdown to CAS 2019 has started, 25 days to go!

https://www.caaudioshow.com/

Looking forward to fully covering this show over on The Audio Beatnik! I'll probably do my usual "live" room photos here as well.

I believe it'll be slightly larger this year, with even more listening rooms to check out. Sweet!

Anyone local going to be attending?

"Just wait, Till the debut of the "Monster" at the California Audio Show July 26th-28th 2019. This new amplifier will amaze even the most hardened audiophile and totally change his/her belief in what a TRUE breakthrough amplifier can achieve.

Pure DC coupling no caps in the signal path, bandwidth to 165 KHz, phase shift whats that? hum and noise below 13 uV, micro volts.. that's one of the lowest noise floors of any tube amp period. Slew rate fast damn fast. Low end response for bass below 12 Hz!, Pure class A, no feedback 8.4 watts 17 watts peak. Sonic nirvana. I guarantee this DLM 4 (Damn Little Monster) will bring all other amps to their knees.

Yes, its that good you think I'm kidding?, have you read the recent review by Tone Audio on our entry level (The baby) DGA-1 .. let's just say this is an order of magnitude above. Confident you bet. All you so called SE and other brands of tube amps look out your day of reckoning has come, I say solid state amps too bring e'm on!.

Only $ 10,500 for the "Finest SE 2A3 Amplifier on Planet Earth"

Cool, a Focal and Rega setup by one of the local retailers here. I'd like to hear those Kanta N1 bookshelf speakers!

Yep those 9.5's were the star of the show as far as I'm concerned. I spent some time in that room on a couple occasions, that room and Skips room impressed me the most.

The room was pretty busy and I didn't have an ideal seat, but I liked what I heard. Looking forward to getting to spend more time with them. CAS is a much more mellow show where you can easily spend 20+ minutes in the sweet spot and not feel like you're hogging the chair.

    Margules Audio!

Last year their Orpheus speakers blew me away with their huge soundstage and treble dispersion. It was my favorite room at the show.

I wish more people would discover this brand, they really know how to put together an excellent sounding system. Their tube amps are also stunningly gorgeous:

Here's one I'm very interested in having another listen to. I briefly heard this Voxativ Hagen Absolut system at Axpona this year and enjoyed it. It's a "one-box" style setup where the full range driver style speakers come with their matching amp/dsp/dac/streamer.

The only thing I see both interesting, and at a decent price, is the Acapella Audio One music server. I wonder how it compares to the Lumin products.
Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
    Three 20 amp circuits.

So I've been trying to think of a track on vinyl that I know very well, to bring with to the show and play in various rooms that have turntables. I thought this might be a good candidate, even if it technically falls into the dreaded audiophile cliche of "female vocals":

Day 1 of CAS 2019 is a wrap. I listened to and photographed all 19 rooms, the photos will be published on The Audio Beatnik soon.

I have a good idea of which rooms I need to hear more of tomorrow.

One of which is the Salk room. Their speakers sounded even better than they did at Axpona.
