Car Accident

So on Thursday I was in bumper to bumper traffic and all the sudden my car jolts forward real hard. Some jerk in a E550 delivery truck rear ends me. We weren't going fast but that 10,000lbs + of truck hit hard. Tossed my cooler off the seat to the floor.

It was a commercial vehicle so he had to call the cops. two hours of waiting and the CHP showed up just to tell us they are not doing accident reports due to all the rain related accidents.

I was able to drive my car home. The trunk wouldn't stay closed and the bumper was bent down. My son crawled under and looked, he said the crumple zones are all buckled.

Later Thursday night my back started to hurt. It felt like I was lifting printers all day. I took some Ibuprofen and it felt better. I took Friday off work, took care of the insurance and getting my car to the shop. I picked up the rental came home and just plopped the rest of the day.

Yesterday I woke up feeling fine, went to Costco, oops my back started to hurt worse as I was lifting. I took some more IB and rested, I called my health care provider and was told to wait till Monday or go to the ER.

This morning back has a dull pain about 3 on a 1-10 scale. I'll take some IB before church and see how it goes. Tomorrow I have to go to work, on Friday one of our vendors dropped a 3 month order all at once...

and my last car payment in due April 15 to top it all off.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Try Aleve for back pain. Other than Flexeril (which is a prescription drug), this is what has always worked best for me and other family members that experience back pain. Sorry to hear of this, especially on a car that was basically paid off.

Sorry to hear about getting hit from the rear. Same thing happened to my son many years ago and he thought he was fine. Well a few months later he started having back and neck issues. You need to go see a doc and get completely checked out.

Glad you weren't seriously injured! Hope the craft beers in your cooler survived! Agree with others, go see your family doc for a look see. I totaled my Avalon in 2017, young girl turned left in front of me. I had a sore neck and back, it went away after 3-4 days. The doctor appt. right away is important if a medical claim is filed. I used Flexeril 30 years ago with no problem, tried it about 10 years ago for lower back pain and it messed with my mind after a couple of days, so I stopped it, really a strange drug. Norflex used for a short time with no side-effects. Use OTC Alleve or Tylenol if you can. Your doctor knows best. Take care!

    Don't get me started.

August 2018, daughter going less than 30mph, another driver blows through a stop sign.

8 months later "today" we are going to see a neurosurgeon about her spinal injury.

You can't even imagine the "cluster" this has been.

    RT advise?
It can take 30 days for an injury to manifest.
    Document EVERYTHING.
You go to the ER have someone take a pic of you laying on the bed.
Did I say Document? Yes Document!!!!!!
    Talk to a lawyer!!

I can't go into all the details but trust me, if you have been injured, prepare yourself for your life to change in ways you can't imagine.

For your sake, I hope it's only a pulled muscle in your back!!!!

Honestly, based on my experience with car accidents, anything beyond a very* minor fender bender, when police arrive, request an ambulance.

    Figure the rest out later.

Did the CHP at least take down information? My stepdad retired from the CHP he worked out of the El Cajon office. According to him if was just a fender bender they usually let the two parties involved swap insurance information. If it was something you described they should of filed a report. I will see if he can get me some names.

I'm currently in San Diego and can tell you what the drivers suck, I watched a guy run through a red light going down Fletcher parkway hill last night and almost caused a major accident. seek medical attention as a truck that large jostled something in your body with an impact like that.

I just talked to him again, he acknowledged that with all the rain and with them having hundreds of accidents to deal with unless one of the individuals were injured they just will tell you to swap insurance information. It sounds like you already did see a doctor the insurance company of the guy that hit you should cover all expenses you should suffer, and if the pain worsens definitely contact a lawyer.
