This is what it's all about

I was listening to Porcupine Tree's In Abstentia and I got goosebumps all up the back of my neck. I couldn't help but smile as I listened to the album. Steve Wilson was in the room. It was spectacular.

Then I found this very well articulated video by Steve Guttenberg describing what I experienced earlier...

Is this not the same Steve Wilson that also does such a great job remastering?

I love those moments you just experienced. I have them on occasion although not often, but thats what makes them even more special.

Same Steven Wilson. He has a lot of good solo stuff. If you like genesis, his stuff will remind you of the original prog rock

The man is extremely talented for sure.

I went to high school with someone named Steve Wilson. Sort of a class clown kind of guy; good kid.

EDIT: on topic, "what it's all about" for me (FWIW, and not that @halo's thread deserves my egocentric-ness), when it comes to music, is when I find myself both smiling and crying. As good as it gets, IMO. Richard Thompson does that for me pretty reliably. There are other artists/pieces of music who do it piecemeal (so to speak).

Porcupine Tree's "Deadwing" did that for me in my car and then on the big system. B)
I also have "In Absentia". Both are definitely Steven Wilson style. I've yet to purchase any more of their albums but I'm sure I will sometime.

I saw PT in concert at the Vic Theater in Chicago in 2009. Very good show. Very restrictive about recording or even taking photos at the show.
