Remote Control Add-On for Vintage Equipment

This is something only an engineer would love. Remote control volume added to a vintage Marantz receiver! Has all the elements we engineers love - Mechanical, Computers, Material Fabrication, Electronics, and Robotics! The nice thing about this system is that it doesn't mess with the original electronic circuitry.

As I get reminded all the time when dealing with our creative design friends - Leave the aesthetics up to us!

Getting up off my lazy duff to adjust the volume is the only exercise I get, so I purposely don't use the remote. :)

I did a MUCH better job of adding remote controlled volume to a vintage integrated, so good you can't tell it's been done and I'm no engineer, which is why it came out perfect. It didn't mess with the original circuits either, totally independent.

Perhaps you don't understand: engineers are... different ;)
    Typically, they're very pragmatic problem-solvers.
Here, this might help you to understand engineers.
a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the midst of the French Revolution the revolting citizens led a priest, a drunkard and an engineer to the guillotine. They ask the priest if he wants to face up or down when he meets his fate. The priest says he would like to face up so he will be looking towards heaven when he dies. They raise the blade of the guillotine and release it. It comes speeding down and suddenly stops just inches from his neck. The authorities take this as divine intervention and release the priest.

The drunkard comes to the guillotine next. He also decides to die face up, hoping that he will be as fortunate as the priest. They raise the blade of the guillotine and release it. It comes speeding down and suddenly stops just inches from his neck. Again, the authorities take this as a sign of divine intervention, and they release the drunkard as well.

Next is the engineer. He, too, decides to die facing up. As they slowly raise the blade of the guillotine, the engineer suddenly says, "Hey, I see what your problem is ..."

LOL! And, after the modifications were made, the engineer is thinking, at least we'll all save money on hats!

It looks like he removed the useless speaker “on/off” switch, and mounted it there.

    Very nice work.
