Upgrading Center Channel from CS1 to S30

I currently have Polk Monitor 60 towers and the CS1 center channel. I'm not in love with the CS1, and really never have been. I am already looking at adding S10s for the surround speakers, and was thinking about replacing the center with the S30. Would it be an issue if the center channel was from the Signature line, but the front towers are from the Monitor line?

    Welcome to CP

Signature Line is not that far off the Monitor line. If you using the AVR calibration then it should blend it well. S30 is a good center speaker.

If you do go with an S30 make sure you can take it back if you don't like it

When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Thanks for the reply. Would there be any reason to upgrade the Monitor 60 to the Signature Series at the same time?

Not unless you want to. Save the funds and see how you like the S30.

I think that the sig line is a pretty big step up from the monitors. I mean @mrloren thought that the sigs were better than rti a5s!

If I were you and I was contemplating upgrading, I would aim for the big boys: the s60s.

With enough power the Monitors 60's are not bad, yes the Signatures are a much nicer speaker overall. Going from RTi8 to S60 has been a joy. If the OP has the coin to spend then yes upgrade to the S60's, S30 and S10's.

Thanks MrLoren. Looks like this will be done in phases. First phase was ordered today- the S10 pair. Next is the S30...maybe next month. Then later in the year, the S60s (or 55s). Thanks for all the input!

I have Monitor 60's and CS2 and upgraded to S55's and a S30. A big improvement on my 3:1 system.

Keep an eye on SlickDeals for a package bundle. Also what AVR are you using? is there a sub in the mix?

I am upgrading my AVR in the coming months to get ready for a 4k HDR monitor. I will definitely consider one with preouts. Right now, thinking of Denon AVRX3400 but haven't delved too far into that yet. Yes, there is a subwoofer in the mix- HSU STF-2.

Good choice of AVR. A friend has that one and loves every minute of it. If you have a Fry's near they go on "promo code" sale sometimes

STF-2 is a great little sub, I got mine Referb from HSU in 2004, had to replace the amp in 16 and it's still rocking. It was my first dive into a real sub.

I have really liked the Hsu. But one thing I have noticed lately is that I have turn the volume on the sub up to at least halfway to get any noticeable contribution. Now, one thing that may be impacting that is that I recently replaced my Denon AVR790 due to the fact that the HDMI boards went bad. So the system is currently being powered by an older Yamaha I had previously (RX-V473).

    Oh boy,

That is what my sub was doing when the amp was on the way out. $145 for a new amp from HSU back to rocking. took like 5 minutes to replace it
