    Fifty years ago today! On this date in 1968 at London's Marquee Club, Jimmy Page's new band first used the name "Led Zeppelin." I first heard Led Zep I during the summer of 1969 or 1970 when a friend's older brother came back from college with this record he introduced as "this new English band." When the needle dropped on "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" it was one of those "we'd never heard anything like this" moments - just like when I first heard "Are You Experienced."

    ^^^ About a month ago, I heard Robert Plant play that song live with the Sensational Spaceshifters in Santa Fe. First time I'd ever heard it live since first hearing it on LP nearly fifty years ago - and he nailed it! He did about four other Zep songs, including a fantastic Good TImes Bad Times to start the show!
