Hard to beat Android auto or the apple variant. One thing I like is the classic double din radio. My 2005 scion has Android auto because of the ability to upgrade. New cars really don't show it without major modification

We have had newer tech from both Honda and GM and pound for pound the GM’s are light years ahead of the Honda’s. The nav, connectivity, file/media compatibility is way better in the Tahoe and Silverado than the Accord and Odyssey we had previous. There are some silly gripes we have on the Chevy’s, like no light in the back trunk but overall very happy with all the features in the domestic vehicle.

^^You may as well just stay inside and never go out in public. Look around, there are cameras everywhere.
2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

Yep...everywhere....and some with microphones built in too. Cars will just get worse in that regard. Pretty soon cops will be able to disable them to avoid chases. You know...public safety and all that.

Hows that go again....if you give up privacy for a bit of security, you deserve neither.

But is it legal....yet ? Hackers can do it, yeah, but can cops legally do it ? I dunno, so I ask. Kinda takes the fun out of being a cop if you ask me. I'd enjoy a good chase, shooting at some bad guys like the prohibition era.

Hate being tethered to the car with a cable, and if you use BT, your battery on the phone goes south quick.

I have none of those issues. I wasn't going to pay an extra $5500 to get navigation, as for me and my purposes it's redundant. On the GTi the Autobahn package is the only option to get Navigation and I didn't want the 20 other options/features that come on the Autobahn. So in my case it didn't make sense.

But I can tell you after using Android Auto, I won't ever pay for navigation on a car.

I have no idea why you would "hate" Android Auto, it works perfect for me every time. I'm also never without my phone. The phone is a tool, perhaps for you it's just an annoyance, what with the recharging and all.

Please show me a link to a phone that can sound as good as a 10 speaker stock, car audio system?

Stretching a little bit there Tony, you're turning into a grumpy old man.... :p:D

I really want to know specifically what you don't like about Android Auto, not just that you hate using a phone, but specifically how it integrates and gives directions, etc.

Driving the car yourself is also redundant Brock, if the car can do it for you....and today it can. Anyone charging 5500 for navigation is ripping you off anyway. You don't need the tuner in a car if the phone can do it, just the amp and speakers, right ? Next car, order it without the tuner, redundant anyway in todays age.

Point is, too many are making their phones an irreplaceable part of their life, almost like a body appendage, attached at the hip. Personally, I don't take my phone with me everywhere I go, some may be different, I get that. I just refuse to let technology run my life is all. Then it controls you, instead of you controlling it.

Technology is a wonderful thing. The phone is a tool, it's no longer just a toy to mess around with when you're bored. And as I explained Navigation itself wasn't $5500, just the package (or trim) that included Nav, with many other things, was $5500. But VW is a bit different as they don't offer many things as stand alone options, they package it together with many other things and with the GTI only offer 3 trims. Annoying, yes, but it doesn't matter because with Android Auto and my phone I can navigate anywhere.

I use technology any chance I get to make things quicker, easier, more efficient, more convenient and to save $$$. If you follow those caveats, technology will never control you. You aren't planning on running off and joining the Amish are you? :p:D

Here in Vermont, and I would imagine in parts of West Virginia also (comparison based on topography only!!!), there tend to be many areas with poor signal, regardless of your carrier. I think whatever repeated sound Android Auto makes when buffering would drive people (sane ones, anyway) insane. :o

    Gotcha on the package thing.

Technology certainly has it's place, but when it's all consuming, it poses a problem. Feel lost with out your phone....can't leave home without it ? Find yourself looking at every 2 minutes ? Constantly looking at it if you put it down ? Then it's controlling you pal, whether you realize it or not.

I don't look good in overalls, so the Amish thing is a non starter. The wife on the other hand, rocks 'em. :)

I'll give ya an example of technology gone wrong. My 10 year old grandson, I was explaining to him how to figure out directions and time of day by using the Sun, and other methods. He told me he didn't need to know that because he can just ask google.

….and if your battery is dead, then what ? If your phone is stolen, broken, lost, no signal, then what ? That will never happen he thinks. I can't wait...

Yeah, I can see that as a concern with your grandson. He should know how to do something if technology fails or is unavailable. We are lucky because at our age we can still do long division if a calculator isn't handy, etc.

Everyone should know how to read a map in case technology fails. I keep paper maps in my car just in case or a print out of Google map directions when traveling. When traveling across the country I keep an atlas with me.

So in regards to that concern about technology, I totally see your point. I am just one who won't shy away from it if it can make my life easier, faster, cheaper, more convenient, etc.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul!

I enjoy the nav in our rdx, my issue is that the DVD is 200$ and we almost have to update it every 2 years. Mind you this is a 2012 rdx not sure how the new ones run. In our 07 rav I use my phone with waze and that works great.
