My thoughts are you should take that money and use it to tweak other non digital parts of your system. Or buy a good bottle of single malt Scotch.

But what do I know? I am sure you will hear that soon...................

I picked up the Supra Cat8 cable to go from my modem to router and from my. Extender in the living room to my streamer.

Just curious if anyone else has used any nicer ethernet cables.

I use some Blue Jeans Cable patch cords. They are assembled and tested for performance and a good termination with a Fluke DTX-1800. IMO they are not insanely high priced. A 12 foot 5e cable costs $11.50. 6a costs more.

I had one instance where a standard store bought ethernet cable would not pass native DSD without drop outs between a transport and DAC while the BJ cable did. I am not saying it sounded different, but the BJ cable did work with 5.6MHz DSD.

There was a thread here on it.

    EDIT:

Here you go. Even contains ethernet cables don't matter comments along with input from Kurt at Blue Jeans.

That's precisely why I wanted a little. Nicer cable, firm connections.

I was having an issue connecting to tidal over musicast 50% of the time and so far no issues with the Supra wire. I can source supra at wholesale costs. So it wasn't too bad of a hit for the reassurance. Doubt I will receive a sound quality boost

I just re-read the Kurt posts in that thread. Worthwhile reading IMO.

They do make a difference but only if they connect a physical chain to the system. For generic computer uses I'd never see a point to use any 'audiophile grade' ethernet cables.

    .

I might echo Skips thoughts on this. Ethernet cables, even in an audio application, are probably the one cable that gives you the least bang for your buck. I wouldn't go bottom barrel for audio applications, but I see no real reason to go super high end either. Middle road is probably where you'll see the most benefit.

Computers...use the one able to pass the signal and built well. Sound quality between computer components is almost a non-issue.

Sometimes I see a network patch cable used for something other than network.
other than that, a good cat 6 patch is cheap and reliable.
Note: I'm not talking about a wallmart cable, just a name brand network cable.
We use Panduit here for the network. Just don't twist it into a bunch
of knots or drop a file cabinet on it, and you'll be fine.

I had a similar experience as SCompRacer. I tried two different box store patch cables, and had buffering issues while streaming. I finally bought a custom-length (this can be very helpful) run from BJC, and no more buffering issues.

Well I just fell prey to Audio Advisors Pangea ethernet cable went with a 3 meter one will I notice a difference from router to Node2 over the stock one? I'm skeptical but at least it will match my Pangea power cord hooked up to the Node2. They sent me an email they were $15 off what the heck I'm giving it a shot.
