Christina Aguilera is such a HUGE disappointment with that voice of hers, she had the chance to be someone on a whole new level after the back to basics album, and be spoke of in the same likes of an Etta, or Aretha, no, she would rather act like a pornstar ...

Do you guys not see the differences ?

You have great singers, who take their profession with pride and simply enjoy singing. They make a good living while expressing their passion. They take pride in bringing to you the best they can do. Because of that, they are not household names.

Then you have the other singers, some with great voices too, that are more concerned with marketing themselves, offstage antics, activism, and collecting twitter followers and likes on FB. Being a "celebrity" is of the most importance, not necessarily singing. Because of that, they ARE household names.

Just goes to show, how shallow the general public is imho.

Okay, I am going to get a lot of hate for this one, but I heard Lady Gaga do Edge of Glory with just a piano for music. I found it pretty eye opening because I had totally dismissed her before that.

She has a great voice and can bring shivers on some songs, same with Christina Aguilera but I have to agree with Larry here.... she still can just ROCK that voice of hers.

Most of this falls on the style of music, most of your current pop/R&B has such overtones of Rap you have to filter out that out first. Surprisingly there are several artist out there that have very good voices, but the current trend is Autotune to match what is popular, but also I will say that there are just as many artist out there that can't carry a tune in a bucket without autotune.

If I had to pick just one I would suggest Rhinnon Giddons, her voice has such range and depth. She can sing Country/Jazz/Folk/Gospel/R&B with the best of them.

The difference with Lady Gaga is she is actually maturing as she gets older, and her music changes from album to album, she IMHO is an actual artist, I for one have been a fan since day one..

You won't get no hate from me...

I don't disagree, but - may I add - Ms Germanotta she was pretty darned authoritatively talented from the get-go.
