If I remember correctly, that Rick Derringer album was produced by Todd Rundgren. You can really hear his influence on the song "Man in the Middle", particularly on the backing vocals. (I think this is the correct album.)

I saw him at The Playground South in Sarasota, Florida at the end of 1982 and in Vermont in 1984 and 1993. -
Funny he loved those small venues..There was a place in Cour D'Laine Idaho called the Rathskeller Inn he used to play regular...Also the vocals on the hit Hang On Sloopy..that's him on lead...
