In the matter of big (bad) pickup trucks

Since I promised not to muck up the Demon thread any more with trucks :)
I'll just share this here.

I mean -- if ya really want a macho pick-up truck... I say... go for it.
The full Monty.

I remember the evening after the "Patriot Day" bombing at the Boston Marathon seeing fleets of things that looked like that rolling in towards town on Route 2 as I was headin' home from work in Lexington.

(note, I realized I had initially written this bass-ackwards, so it's been edited)

well, that 3-pointed star on the grille suggests to me that one would be a tad pricey ;)

I remember that day all to familiar because I was in Cambridge the day of, and the day after. Many vehicles that had that Urban Assault look barreling down highways/back roads.

I couldn't agree more. The late 50's and early 60's were, to me, the pinnacle of American automobile styling. Just like the music coming out of England in the late 60's and early 70's was the pinnacle of the rock and roll era.

  • That riot control rig looks a lot like the Marauder (sp?) from South Africa if I remember right. Richard did a review of one on BBC Top Gear a few years ago. AK-47's and all included. Made a Hummer look like a bloody booger.

Hmmm, how many things about that truck are illegal in the state of Pennsyltucky? (Or at least won't pass safety inspection)

Yep, you need a dependable truck to carry out mass murder and genocide. Especially important when escaping the scene of such crimes.
2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

It has a brand-new frame (well, like 5 or 6 years old) -- Toyata had a little frame... issue, which they dealt with rather quietly but effectively.

Our son-in-law's old-ish Tundra likewise sits on a new frame.

It is an almost embarrassingly simple vehicle is the Taco. Not much to go wrong with it, besides rust (and mortar fire, of course).

I did have to replace the original wheels last year -- they had rotted away and two of 'em were leaking air.

I'm a FORD fan myself. Not big and bad but just reliable is important to me.

40 years ago or so...guys I knew wanted a Dodge Power Wagon 4WD. One guy had one and would love it when it snowed ( this was in Va. back then ) . He would go out and pull people out of ditches for 50.00. He made some drinking and smoking money all the time.

This what my friends looked like.

Mine's not super fancy, but it gets the job done. 800 ft lbs of torque, stock - and that was before I deleted the emissions crap and put a full exhaust and tune on it. 4wd and the stock locking rear differential helps move her heavy butt around in less than ideal traction situations.
