    After investing six hours yesterday watching the Lynyrd Skynyrd story twice, I gotta say now I get it. I've grown up like everyone else hearing the songs played on the radio but never understood the cult-like following until now. I just thought it was a rebel redneck thing. But I was born in Macon, GA, spent most summers in Birmingham until I was in high school, and have been in Dallas area since 66 so I'd consider myself a southern boy and never got the LS thing. Instead I got into Rush, Police, Who, and others far far from here. Go figure?!

    Had the pleasure of seeing them a number of times when they were on the southern bar/club grind..Biggest places they were doing were National Guard armories...That band back in those days could really rip up a stage I'll tell ya...

    Led Zeppelin made their live debut on this date in 1968 but not under that name. The Yardbirds had split up and Page assembled Plant Bonham and Jones and they played the few remaining scheduled dates, but not exactly as the New Yardbirds either.
