Amazon Shipping problems

I've been buying stuff from Amazon for at least 15 years and the shipping has usually been smooth sailing. They normally used USPS or UPS. Sometimes if I ordered a book or a CD either thru them or one of their marketplace vendors it would get lost in the mail. Refunds were promptly given. The vast majority of purchases had no problems.

Recently, I have had some problems with Amazon because they are now using either OnTrac or themselves to do deliveries. It seems Amazon is getting into the shipping business. OnTrac has a similar business model as Uber and uses private drivers to do deliveries. With my first order involving OnTrac 2 months ago, I sat home all day Saturday and no delivery. But, the driver marked delivered, so perhaps it was delivered to the wrong address.

Last Saturday Amazon itself was to deliver an order and I called and they said they lost my order. So, they issued a refund that hit my card on Monday and I reordered. OnTrac delivered the replacement order yesterday. Today, I checked my Amazon account and discovered that apparently Amazon is going to deliver the order they lost and refunded on Monday to me today! I will wait and see if that actually happens. I also checked my card to make sure they did not reverse my refund. So far, they have not.

I did a Yahoo search about OnTrac and there are numerous online consumer complaints against them. Seems like they are subject to the same problems Uber may have with its drivers. (In fairness, I have not done a similar search about the USPS or UPS).

I liked Amazon before they thought they could also be a delivery company. I wish they left well enough alone.

I'm curious if others that do business with Amazon are now having delivery problems.

    I have had nothing but stellar service from them I ordered the recently released Eric Clapton live in San Diego Bluray late Saturday night normal shipping was spose to be delivered tomorrow it arrived on Monday to my surprise, pretty impressive.

    I, too, had had great service from Amazon...until recently. Without getting in to too much detail I wasted lots of time repeating myself ad naseum until I realized they didn't give a crap about me or my problem. I chalked it up to an expensive lesson learned (even though they clearly lied or mislead...and I have photographic proof)and cancelled my Prime credit card and account and have vowed to never do business with them again. Oh, the promise of someone higher up getting back with me on this "serious" matter has never happened. Buyer beware.

    I order off amazon all the time. I stopped paying for a prime membership due to the fact they could not ship anything to me in a reasonable amount of time. This included shipments sent to wrong addresses (in another province) and lost items in the mail.

    What is up with them lately? Takes them up to a week to process and ship my order, even when I pay the small fee to have it shipped faster than the free shipping option.

    I get a lot of my purchases same day now that we have a warehouse hub in the metro. No issues yet. Prime music and movies are just an added bonus. Good luck. D

    Amazon is building a "We're not sure what it's going to be" million square foot "something" about 5 miles from here. Gee....maybe an iceskating rink ? One of the local big supermarket chains is experimenting with "Free delivery on orders over $xx !". Another major supermarket fired all their warehouse workers and went with Aramark/Adecon contracted services. Hmmm....wonder why that is ?
    The only problem I've ever had with Prime is when UPS uses "SMARTPOST" for final delivery. My stuff gets to the UPS hub in one day, gets transferred to USPS, and sits for 2+ days somewhere with USPS. :'(

    I would get irritated if I expected 2 day delivery and it took a week.

    Sometimes if you mention that you are a prime member and that the orders took long than they should, they send ya a gift card, or drop some cash back into your account.

    I have had a couple of issues with hundreds of orders. Call them and they will usually extend your prime membership by a month.

    For me they are hit or miss. Prime definitely isn't as good as it used to be. They are pretty good about compensating for any issues that are within their control. I usually call but have had good luck with the Customer Service Chat option.

    Their customer service is top notch, but I'm plagued by shipping issues with them at least 50% of the time.

    It's not just Amazon who does this and just two days consider yourself lucky. I have had mine sit 14 days at the USPS hub. Its frustrating to see the tracking number say delivered yet you got nothing anywhere. Fed-ex and UPS are using this system at times now can be very frustrating.

    I can relate that the only times I have ever had a problem the USPS was involved. UPS and FedX never have a problem.

    I have had good luck with Amazon delivery times..usually faster than their estimated delivery date. But that could be because I am less than an hour away from one of their fulfillment centres/warehouses.
