MY Christmas miracle

My Christmas miracle

I went to my doctor for a routine follow up and when he asked if anything else was going on I told him of a funny feeling I had a few days earlier in my right arm and I couldn't control it very well for a few minutes. He was immediately concerned that it could have been a mini stroke. He ordered tests to be done.

I had the tests done on December 21st and had a visit with my doctor the next day to review the results. (I thought there was no way he would have the results that fast)
He did have the results and told me I was a mess ( i knew that already)

He told me that I have had both a stroke and a heart attack and my left carotid artery was over 75% blocked....not good. He said they would call a specialist and make me an appointment and let me know when it was.

I didn't even make it home before his nurse called and told me to go to Saint Thomas Hospital immediately and that the doctor would see me as soon as I got there.

The doctor there had his office do another quick ultrasound on my carotid artery to confirm, which they did agree with the results I had. He wanted to admit me then and do surgery the next day. I asked if I could wait until after Christmas and he said it was up to me but if it was him he would have it done immediately. So I came home and went back the next morning and he did the surgery.

After it was over he said he had been doing this surgery for about 30 years (over 2,000 of them) and mine was one of the worst he had ever seen. I had a piece blockage loose and flapping and if it had broke loose it would have killed me.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
