Need help with a Mini Monitor crossover

Options
the crossover in the MM have 2 resisters 2.7ohms & 1.0 ohms. Looking at schematics of other Monitor series(5jr, 5B, & 7's) they show replacing the 2.7 with a 2.0 ohms. Should I do that mod. here or keep the 2.7 resister? Also what does the change from 2.7 to 2.0 do for the speaker? Thanks for your help. MP

    Per Crossover;

    Caps
    (1) 12uF 50V or higher
    (1) 34uF 50V or higher

    Resistors
    (1) 1ohm 5W or higher
    (1) 2.7ohm 5W or higher

    For caps I like Sonicap, Clarity are also good. For resistors I like MIlls.

    You should remove the fuses and clean the ends as well as the holder clips.

    @F1nut Do you know what difference changing the values will have on the MMs?

    Pull one of your crossovers, and verify the values for all components. Do not change them when upgrading. Polk revised their schematics because of design changes. For example, when a fuse was deleted and replaced with a Polyswitch, the resistor value downstream was reduced to compensate. Another example, if a different tweeter was used, the resistor and capacitor in series with it may change, and the shunt inductor and resistor (if equipped) may change as well.

    Thanks to everyone that answered my post, I'll will just update using the same size. I do have one more question for Westmassguy. When I got these MM's the original mid/woofers were gone and had been replaced with a pair of 4" sparkamatic series 8000 car speakers. In a past post you mentioned that Polk used CTS speakers in some speakers, do you know if they were used in the MM's and were the original speakers 4 or 8 ohms. Thank you for your help. MP

    CTS and Rola made essentially the same woofer back then. I'm very familiar with the 8 ohm version, but I believe Polk used the 4 ohm version. Several CP Members own the mini monitors, so they'd be the best source to verify 4 or 8 ohm.
