PSW10 line level inputs

Hi,

Being new to the world of powered subs I think I made a good choice in entering the game with a Polk sub. Now for the question:

I'm hanging the PSW10 off of a Yamaha Natural Sound 5740 that features a line level Subwoofer out intended to jack into a port on the rear of the sub. I purchased a good quality solid core cable to connect one to the other and discovered the Y connection in the package. The PSW10 Manual shows 3 inputs on the rear of the sub: an LFE and a filtered Left/Right set. My actual PSW10 has only the Left/Right pair and no LFE input. Since the connection on the Yamaha is a single out and the PSW10 has only L/R in should I be connecting the Y to both inputs or simply connect the cable to the L (Mono I presume) input. What am I gaining/losing by chosing one or the other.

    Welcome Reg,

    Either way is fine. With a y splitter you may get a 3dB signal increase (doesn't mean much) and it may help if the auto on function is sleepy.

    actually 3 db is a good increase for just adding a y splitter. you will notice a difference, i did.

    But it is only the signal. The amp will not be any more powerful, and a calibrated sub will not gain any max output. You would achieve the same result by increasing the gain on the amp.
