Cleaning Cloth Face Grills

Options
Does anyone have any suggestions on how the cloth grills may be safely cleaned on FX1000 surrounds? I do believe my surrounds are in need of a facelift. After 20 years of dust accumulation they are in need and unfortunately white (well they used to be white) now kinda dirty! Thought about the dishwasher but.............? Anybody ever done this? Trying to clean the white grills I mean!

I use a small brush attachment on the vacuum, on those thin grill cloths you would have to be careful.

I put mine in the shower for a deep cleaning. Works great. If you have the old school wooden backed grills, put weight on them so they dry straight, they can warp. Don't soak or anything, just rinse em off. I imagine for the white ones, you could use some mild detergent w warm water. Then I do like @MikeReeter said & keep em from getting that way again by vacuuming the grills with the brush on somewhat regularly.

If they're plastic frames, I would wet them first in the sink with the sprayer, and some warm water, then spray some Fantastic or 409 on them. Gently soap them up with a sponge, let them sit for a bit, then rinse them thoroughly. Gently run a towel over them, to absorb most of the water, then put them out in the sun.

Ok since I'm kinda on the impatient side I decided to try all of the above replies. I vaccumed them with a brush attachment got most the dust off, I used the shower Techique on 2 and the wet in sink and use fantastic or the like on the other 2. Only change I made was from fantastic cleaner to carpet cleaner as I had no fantastic or the like available. In the sun drying now. I'll let you know the results. PS Plastic frames!

So grilles are dry and your suggestions worked equally well, Look like brand new. Thanks for your input! At first I thought oh crap cause the cloth became loose fitting but after drying out they tightened back up. Worked great!
