Been having great results with Taste of the Wild brand. Five yeas ago bought Iams @ Sams club and my dog almost died. Refunded my money but it was a close call. Great thread. Peace. D

I used to use this stuff years ago, but I stopped when it kept becoming a pain to find. I asked my pet store what was going on, they told me they had several issues with salmonella/infections at the factory...

    No thanks.

I switched to Earthborne Holistic and my dog LOVES the stuff. It's even less expensive.

We went thru a stage of giving our dogs cottage cheese as well. Anyway, good thread!

Good for you....trick with cottage cheese is to not overdue it. Maybe a couple times a week with some flaxseed oil or olive oil drizzled on and mixed in. Good for the digestion and heart.

Same with garlic for those that use it, too much is bad.

On November 25, 2015, Blue Buffalo announced the recall of one lot of its Cub Size Wilderness Wild dog chews because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can affect the health of both pets and humans.

    What Is a Market Withdrawal?

A market withdrawal is different than a product recall.

According to the Food and Drug Administration:

Market withdrawal: occurs when a product has a minor violation that would not be subject to FDA legal action.

The firm removes the product from the market or corrects the violation.

For example, a product removed from the market due to tampering, without evidence of manufacturing or distribution problems, would be a market withdrawal.

We have been unable to determine the reason for this action. Or to verify the authenticity of the posted noticed.
For this reason, no further information is available at this time.

Dave's Pet Food of Agawam, Massachusetts, has confirmed it is voluntarily recalling one production lot of its Dave's Simply the Best dry dog food due to the presence of an "off odor".

The affected product includes one batch of Dave’s Simply the Best dry dog food with the Best Use By date of October 15, 2016.

Customer supplied date code information and retain samples were pulled and tested. Peroxide value was high, indicating rancidity.

Batch documentation was reviewed, and an investigation into the source was initiated.
All lot code information was captured as per batch record.

No outdated materials were used, however it was noted on a subsequent production run of another product that the rice bran being used had an off odor.

This product contains rice bran and could have been the source of the off odor. There was no odor noted during the manufacture of the product in question.

The remaining totes of rice bran were discarded.

Yuk....I wouldn't feed that garbage to the wild animals in the forest let alone a pet. Who buys this junk anyway ? Appreciate the update, but seriously folks, there are soo many better brands of Pet food out there that I can't imagine a reason why anyone would feed junk to their beloved pets.
