Streaming Music through Bluetooth

My remote foe the Polk surroundbar 5000 is inoperable. It was installed with a smart TV and the TV sound was turned off. The Polk 500 sound bar works with the TV, but the Polk remote has no effect on the sound bar. The on/off button, the source buttons, nor the volume buttons do note communicate with the Polk surroundbar 5000. The manual make it seem simple to use the Bluetooth capabilities. What can I do?
