New set up

Hi all!! It has been a very long time since I have been in here!

Anyway, I have enjoyed my Monitor II set up for years and am making the move to the RTi line. New(er) Denon 1913 receiver being used. CSi3 and RTiA1s on order. PSW110 of almost five years is eh, so so. (My old Infinity SL50s had more bass!!) Will be getting RTiA1s for rears soon. Size is the deal. Towers out of the question. :(

Any recommendations for a $250 or so sub? I'd like to stay with Polk but, open to other brands.

Thanks!

A $250 sub is likely not going to go much lower than a good set of monitors. Just saying...

$250 is an odd budget for a sub. Either increase the budget two times to get SVS/HSU/Rythmlink or reduce the budget by half and purchase a dayton audio sub 1200/BIC F12. I am running dayton audio sub 120 (previous version of sub 1200) and its quite good for an apartment setup. But if I had a larger room to fill, I'd definitely go with SVS/HSU/Rythmlink.
I don't know, you may be able to find a used SVS/HSU around that price but I have never seen one locally. My local CL seldom has any quality subs and when it does, its posted for more than a brand new one for some reason.

Now about those RTiA's and CSi3. Are you placing the front RTiAs on stands? It will take same amount of space as the towers. Oh and @polkphil38 is selling his brand new RTi4 for a really good price here:

So many people short change their systems by buying a cheap sub (around 300 dollars) thinking it will offer them quality bass. Better to put that $300 towards a better sub in the $1000.00 new or $500.00 used area. First off, what size room (cu. ft.) are you looking to pressurize , I take it your system will be used mainly for HT?

The room is only 1,500 cu. ft. 8-10 ft seating distance. Yeah, I can double my budget but, no more. And yes, it will be about 90% HT use. Also yes, speakers on shelves. Not the setup I want but, better than nothing.

My CSi3 showed up yesterday! Got it hooked up last night. WOW!! Even without break in it is amazing! Clear. Crisp. Great dispersion. Now digging through my movie library to test it. I'm hoping the RTiA1s show up Monday!

I would look at getting a psw505 cheap. You can normally find them for about 199. I have been using one for the last few years and have been very happy with it.
    Front - RTiA5's
    Rear - RTiA3's
    Center - CSiA4
    Sub - PSW110

Went to Best Buy tonight to get some Blu Rays. Looked at more speakers. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. (I'd buy all of them if I could. LOL)

I'll take a good used sub any day.
My Cambridge SoundWorks 12" sealed sub cost me 50 bucks from a nice old man and it sounds very nice !

I just ordered a 505 today! Why not? If it still sucks, I can pass it on to my daughter.

My 505 showed up yesterday. Hooked it up last night. Oh my!!! It absolutely blows away the 110 I had. Digs WAY deeper. I still need to calibrate it but, wow!

You do have to realize the PSW505 was a $5-600 sub when new.
