Need A New Sub

My little Boston sub has died, which means I'm down to one sub. I'm thinking of getting either the SVS SB1000/2000. I can't handle the weight of the PB 1000 nor do I think my neighbors would appreciate it.

Does anyone here have either one of these subs? How do they perform and in what size room?

My living room is about 16 x 18 and is just off the kitchen which is 9 x 6 give or take.

So how well do you think either one of these subs would do in my space, and would either of them over power my DSW Pro 400?

cfrizz I tried a PB1000 in a similar situation and I was not enough. I got a PB2000 that I was happy with but then I had to go dual. It solved all of the problems that I created lol.

oh and I would rather not try to get different subs to play well together unless you like a challenge.

I have a sb 1000 in my basement in my 2 channel system, and belts out a lot of bass in my room. And I only have the gain set to half. I think anything svs will out gun your dsw 400. I love that little sb1000, it's super small, and powerful for its size, I put the sound path isolation feet under it, due to walking on the hardwood.

Will have to measure my basement it's an "L" shape, and two 8x10 rugs fit down there with room to spare.

Don't forget HSU. The HSU stf 2 or even better at the budget you are looking, the VTF 2. But if ur worried about size and weight, the little guy might be just the ticket.

I took a look at HSU, but they are all too heavy.

Has anyone used one of Outlaws subs?

The HUS STF2 is only 3 pounds heavier than the SB-2000, and you could get 2 for the price of one SB-2000. However, I do think that the SB-2000 would dig a bit deeper, it just wouldn't provide quite the output or the stereo seperation (if you used them that way) of 2 STF-2s. Just a thought...

Sorry, I have not heard the outlaws, but have been long interested in them...

    Find a used micropro series.

That's pretty hard to do, and when they come up people want more than there are worth.

If she is looking at other options and is open to used, then look at Martin Logan Dynamo (the original) or abyss, or velodyne SPL1000. Before very small, dig pretty deep, and tight fast and musical. And much cheaper used than a micropro 3000 or 4000.
