These are the only drivers, aside from the RD tweeters, being manufactured to support vintage products, such as, Monitor, RTA and SDA. You should print this as a reference and keep it handy for the values it contains. There are no grill parts, cables, crossovers, plates or anything else available for the older loudspeakers, unless you know the Polk G O D.

1 Driver Type Q BL Compliance DC Resistance Fs

Does anyone know off the top of their head what Polk CS asks for the these? I'd like to make sure I have some MW6511's on hand, but they are a rare bird on the used market.

Anyone know what a new MW 6502 costs? And if the pair price the same as each price, just X 2? Or is there a small discount or break in the price?

I think they're close to 50 a speaker if you're a member here! Someone can correct me if I'm wrong!

Well worth it. I was considering getting some back ups for my Monitors, etc.

I have a set of SDA 2B's that I would like to start the upgrade process on, beginning with the tweets. Research has said the RD-0194-1 is the correct replacement. No luck finding them so far (or maybe Im not searching correctly on the website). New to the forum, so please forgive my ignorance.

You need to call Polk directly and buy from them. That is the only location you can get those tweeters from.

    RT3000p / CS1000p / FX1000 PARTS:
There are many other drivers than these 6000 series, so hoping my updated list here will help those with RT3000p/CS1000p/FX1000 rigs. I am in the process of replacing some damaged drivers, as well as building up an inventory of spare parts for that rainy day when I need them. Parts folks over at Polk were very helpful in identifying the following drivers, and informing me what is and is not in production. Please note that they gave me both the original part #, as well as any newer replacement/upgraded part # when applicable, hence why you see 2 part numbers in some cases.

Mod, I leave it up to you if prices need to be removed. These prices are directly from Polk, for Polk members only.

For the question about getting parts in Canada, Walter Moser is the rep, I have his number if you need it. He basically orders the parts straight from the parts dept in the US, and depending on whether he is busy or not, it's best to just call the parts dept in the US directly. They do ship to Canada, but offer free shipping within the US.

Also, if you need to have more delicate repairs done, like plate amps, there is a company in Ontario that Walter/Polk deals with, which has a limited supply of rebuilt plate amps and other items for vintage speakers. They just shipped me a rebuilt plate amp for my RT3000. But I ordered a whole bunch of spare drivers straight from the US, they have a good amount of inventory.

I was interested in monitor 9 replacement drivers and tweeters
  • I was thinking of using the MW6503, in a home speaker project. Need about 35hz or lower low cut off so this driver seemed to fit the bill.
I have seen some used drivers on Ebay and also seen this driver new at some speaker repair sites.
    My first question is:
Are the new OEM drivers (MW6503) the same quality as the original ones?

I know that the old ones are now subject to Magnet shift because of the old epoxy.

    Next question:
    Are these parameters correct?

    Driver: MW 6503 Driver's model #.
    Brand: Polk Driver's brand name.
Fs: 29.8600 Hz (Free air resonance)
    Vas: 3.0017 ft^3 (Compliance volume)
    Qts: 0.3100 Total Q
    Qms: 1.7680 Mechanical Q
    Qes: 0.3760 Electrical Q
    Sd: 0.0130 M^2 (Piston area)
Xmax: 3.1800 mm (Cone excursion, linear)
    Revc: 6.5400 ohms (DC resistance)
    Znom: 8.0000 ohms (Nominal impedance)
Pmax: 35.0000 watts maximum rated power

    Thanks in advance.

  • I just received a pair of replacement drivers for the mw-6509 (RD 6528-1), my question is since the terminals are not marked, can I assume the polarity of the terminals are the same as in the mw-6509's? Thanks in advance!

A safe assumption I would think, but there must be some sort of marking.

  • Thanks Jesse, I'll look again, there appears to be a small indent on what I would assume the negative terminal, It almost looks like a dash. I could not tell if that was from crimping or not. I will progress carefully. and see how it turns out! again thanks!
