Polk Melee connecting to xbox one via adapter help

Ok, so i just received the Melee headset today and i also received an xbox one adapter, that came with the adapter that plugs into the controller, and the necesary cords, but I am having difficulty figuring out how to connect the melee connector to the adaptor. It appears that the way the plug is oriented on the connector its not possible to connect the 3.5mm adaptor??

Can anyone give me help on how to do this? It seems like i have all the necessary tools, just can't physically connect them?

    Welcome to Polk's forum. Can you describe what about the plug's orientation is preventing it from being connected?

    the 3.5mm adapter that comes with the xbox one headset adapter is too large to fit onto the 2.5mm plug on the melee xbox 360 connector. not the receiving hole, but the surrounding housing. So you can't securely fit the two together because the housing of the 2.5mm plug on the melee connector is too close to the plug itself for the adapter cord to fit . Hopefully that makes sense. I will try to add pictures later if possible
