I use this player for SA-CD's, great sound! Great for redbook CD's also. Sorry, I can't speak for it's video capabilities.

I still have the 79 but could not tell any difference between the 2. They both benefit from dynamat.

    Everything does.

Thread hijack.... How does a player benefit from dynamat? What else are you referring to benefiting?

It's a vibration control mechanism. Noise elimination is the name of the game in hifi and dynamat absorbs that physical energy that shakes the chassis of anything in the room.

Ok I can see that. Never really thought about it but yea makes sense. So what do you do take the cover off and dynamat the whole inside?

This is when Pioneer made very nice quality players. I owned the series until they went Blu ray. They where crappy for awhile but today they are making a comeback.

The 59 and 79 as Dan said are excellent players for the money. If I was still spinning disks I would hesitate picking another up.

Nice player, for the price of some designer skinny jeans, congrats man.
