Can the USB Port in Omni A1 be used for ethernet connection?

Options
Manual has conflicting statements:
1) 6. USB—for firmware updates only - pg. 3
2) A hard-wired Ethernet connection can provide a faster transfer rate than a wireless connection. While Polk Omni Collection products do not have a dedicated Ethernet port, they do have a USB Port. Using an Ethernet adapter for a USB cable, you can connect your products directly to your router. - pg.4

So which is accurate?

I received this reply from Chet at Polk:

"I’m sorry for the confusion. The USB input on the Polk Omni wireless products serves two functions. First, the USB input can be used for firmware updates. Second, when used with an Ethernet to USB adapter, the USB input allows our wireless products to be hardwired directly to a router."
