Yeah not talking bout them magical ones, but these delicious Morels mmm mmm good eating. If we didn't have thunderstorms tonight I would be out hunting them right now, after this rain they should be sprouting like crazy. I Will be heading out in the woods with my walking stick and burlap sack a hunting me some this weekend for sure. Anybody else?

    I know of people that take two weeks off work to hunt these. They gather 6-8+ pounds a day. They have no problem selling them for $25.00 a pound!!! I took this photo a few weeks ago, saw it driving down the street.rsh16zrxu9e0.jpg

    To funny there is a house not far from mine that had one carved out of their old elm tree I will have to snap a picture of it and post it. I'm not a fanatic Me and a couple of friends go out and find em and eat em but I know one guy that does the same thing takes a few days off from work and sells them to restaurants locally and makes pretty good money.

    You have to have a lot of mushroom knowledge in order to know what won't hurt you right? That's what I'd be scared of. Even if I had a book with pictures I'd still worry that maybe what I'm looking at isn't the same as the picture.

    And, you are wise to carry them in a mesh bag to let the spores trail out behind you as you walk about looking for more.

    Brings back very fond memories of my growing up in Indiana. My father owned a farm, all of which was forested. He hunted Morels every season. My mother prepared them better than any I have ever eaten!
