EAC v. dbpoweramp

I've been using EAC to rip for many years now and it always served me well. I've noticed that a lot of folks have moved to dbpoweramp for ripping. What are everyone's thoughts regarding switching to dbpoweramp? What were your reasons for switching? Surely there is no sonic reason, as an accurate rip is possible with both. So tell me, why would I like dbpoweramp better?

I switched to Foobar2000, it's even more simple and has all the security features like EAC to ensure accurate rips. Far easier to setup.

How about the meta data and album art retrieval functions of foobar? Does it do all of that?

I believe so, but I never hunt down album art---it's free, give it a spin....

Search youtube for "flac with foobar2000" to see how it works.

Right on. I am familiar with foobar. Always liked it as player back in the day, but I haven't really dug into it. I'm really interested to know if Dbpoweramp is worth investing in. I have about 700 discs to rip, and I want to get it right. EAC, while a bit clunky, has always been a trustworthy ripper.

Foobar uses Accurip just like EAC, and is about as slow as EAC (LOL)--but I'm after accurate rips as well; I just find that 90% of EAC settings are of no consequence to me. I found EAC over-complex for basic CD ripping, and having to hunt down all the "how to" websites to configure it properly, everytime I upgrade, gets to be a pain.

steve, if you care... pm me your email address, a while back i wrote a how-to guide to set up eac. a few people have used it and have told me it's quite helpful. of course, if you're happy with dbpoweramp you probably don't care!
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Appreciate the offer, but no setup help needed with foobar2000; that's why I like it.

I've used dBpoweramp for several years now. It's easy to use, pro level software, instant album art, able to quickly sort through multiple choices (higher rez album art if you desire) flexible and fast. To me it's one stop shopping for ripping. You can quickly edit tags in the header so your rip ends up in one folder.

I used to use foobar for DSD/flac playback to my DAC. Neat freeware, but eventually went with JRiver.

Failed to add that dBpoweramp offers a free no-obligation, fully functional trial for 21 days, so give it a try and see what you like better.

I strictly use foobar for ripping. Playback is done via HDD/USB and my Oppo.
