? On SACD's online

Looking at BBuy.com online & i notice it says SACD HYBRID then others say SACD SACD not sure what those mean. Could someone explain before i buy wrong ones. I realize there are cheaper places but i have a gift card & i can get some to use it up. Found it on the dresser :smile:e1r5z31l77d8.jpg

  • Hybrid has the normal CD layer and the SACD
so it should work in any player.

Ok. Now i get it. I just got a sacd player & have no sa'cd's yet. I have not played with the buttons yet as i dont have any. I tried a regular cd in it thats all. I look forward to hearing one. I will also look online for the manual on the player-as that may help also. I do have stock remote. So that may be a big bonus in this kind of unit here. Thanks again. Randy

  • Those Rush aren't my fav SACDs.
I like the Dylan SACDs and you can pick those up used on the cheap. (Stones too)
BS&T Child is Father to the Man is Great.
Dire Straits Brothers in arms is great.
Danny Elfman Serenada Schizphrana is a good one.
Maybe others can chime in if none of those are interesting to you.

Also, EVERY SACD player owner worth anything has absolutely gotta have Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon'! In fact, that's the first SACD owned by about 90% of all SACD owners that I know, including myself! B)

They are cheap, but just don't ever pre-order something from importcds.com. I did and they sent me the incorrect CD after pre-ordering the YES CTTE AF SACD two months in advace. I received a Billy Joel SACD instead (if I remember correctly). Then, I had to pay the return shipping and still didn't get the YES SACD I had pre-ordered. Terrible customer service, IMO.

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Just a heads up, buying SACDs online from BestBuy is a hit or miss proposition. I ordered some and they were put on backorder till available, after six months of waiting I cancelled the order.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

They have a lot of SACDS at best buy I bought all the Elton Johns, a few Kinks, the there Billy Joel and a few others. If you type in the Search button just SACD it brings up a lot of them. Good luck finding what you want, but be prepared to drop some major coinage. :D

Thats what i did ^^^^^^^^ some online were ok priced. I dont much care for BB. The local BB in our area stinks. I called up & the person didnt even know what a sa'cd was. I still went over. Another person there didnt know either. They dont stock any & was little/no help. Not a problem. Looked at tv/hdmi overpriced cables. Listened to some Polk & Pioneer speakers they stocked & what little audio gear they have. So i have gift card & just gonna burn it up in online sacd's & call it a day

Best Buys stores don't stock SACDS but best buy.com has a lot in the search bar type in SACD and you would be surprised at how many show up. I got that Live At The Fillmore there. I have a couple of dozen SACDs since getting my Oppo, all from Best Buy or from Jesse, my favorite so far is Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells a must have in my opinion, listening to that one sends chills up my spine it sounds that good.

I bought 2 online from BB.com yesterday (Dark side of the Moon & another Allman Bros) & i went to our local record last night BullMoose & he said they can get them for me. I will check on prices. Ive been eye'n ebay & the ones listed above. Im going to wait & see how the 3 i got coming sound & go from there. Tubular Bells I have the LP sweet stuff. I enjoy Beck & Eagles Clapton Santana Dream-Theater others & wouldnt mind getting that on Sacd. So i Cant Wait to get my ears on them

  • Caveat Emptor on SACD.
I like letting Headrott take the plunge first. :# He has been on the money so far.
SACD doesn't = better. It sometimes does.

Using the above example, DSOTM SACD isn't exactly universally praised.
I'll toss it in as I type. Sounds good to me but it is different. (got mine used BTW)
Tossing my vinyl copy on now... Sounds more gutsy to me for lack of a better term.
So what I'm trying to say is keep your old media around for a while.
