How do I open up a flac file?

Question I bought the new Tom Petty Hypnotic Eye on vinyl it came with a free mp3 download and a Flac download. The mp3 went right to my windows media player so I was able to put it on my portable devices. My question is how do I open the flac files the 11 flac files are sitting there on the C drive the media player cant open them but I can open them on the windows media center is that the right way to open them and play them on the computer & burn them on a disc, or is there another method?

    thanks brgman I'am able to open them up in the media center it does recognize that it is a flac file and lets me play it and will let me burn it onto a CDR disc is that the optimal way? Will putting it on a CDR be a good sounding quality want it for the truck Don't need it for the 2 channel rig or HT as they have turntables and the LP sounds great just want to transfer these flac files on the disc and play them in our vehicles.

    If your vehicles player doesn't except FLAC it wont play. Your vehicle will probably only play mp3's.

    Flac won't burn to a cd.You will need to convert to a wav file probably to get it to work in a CD player.
    If you have a blank dvd I would put the flac on it before you start messing around converting.That way you have it to reload if something goes south.
    The computer gurus here can help more than me probably.

    I guess I could put it on a CDR and maybe my my Oppo player will recognize it and I can compare it to the vinyl on the same rig.

    Your Oppo should recognize FLAC. Just put the files on a USB stick and they should play on the Oppo.
