I have had tons of luck with the library in my ripping venture, but there's just some material I have to break down and buy. I see a lot of this "remastered" term flying around and looking to see what fellow members thoughts are on this. Maybe it's been covered, so forgive me if that;s the case. Jeff Beck (The Jeff Beck Group LP) was a favorite and harder to find and defiantly not at the library, so I am debating on the original or remastered......anyone?? ripping and FLAC is the format I am using. Wont the original CD be just as good as the remastered doing this?? I will NEVER play the cd..just rip it and listen on my Cambridge stream Magic 6. Thanks

I will google it and maybe someone here knows. I'm thinking the original and the way the Stream Magic 6 Upgrades everything that sneaks through it my ears should lite up when I hear it. Thanks for your knowledge on the subject. Much appreciated,Remastering changes the production values. Sometimes a remaster yields great improvements, sometimes none, other times it can degrade sound quality. Do a little research to find the best sounding version of the CD and go from there."if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

The Steve Hoffman forum is a good source of information on the subject of "which CD version is best". Just Google the band and album name followed by 'steve hoffman' and you should get some hits.2 channel - Willsenton R8 tube integrated, Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE DAC, audio optimized NUC7i5, Windows 10 Pro/JRiver MC29/Fidelizer Plus 8.7 w/LPS and external SSD drive, PS Audio PerfectWave P3 regenerator, KEF R3 speakers, Rythmik F12SE subwoofer, Audioquest Diamond USB cable, Gabriel Gold IC's, Morrow Audio SP5 speaker cables. Depends on who's doing the Re-Mastering John. Moody Blues, Days of Future Past, Re-Mastered, was absolutely horrible. Completely flat and lifeless. I still have the original CD, and it's as good as I remember the vinyl being. The 2 CD, Fleetwood Mac, Rumors Re-Mastered I gave you, was done extremely well however.Home Theater/2 Channel:

Thanks, I'm flying with the original on this one, and probably future grabs as well. The Cambridge is doing an amazing job. Thanks David,"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

IMO, not the hybrid SACD of Days of Future Passed. I have not listened to the red book CD of the remastered CD, however. I do have the Mobile Fidelity 24K gold CD and it is phenominal! Also the quadraphonic reel-to-reel is phenominal!

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Also, I wanted to agree with others bout who/how the CD is remastered.
For example, the original Genesis CD's through the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway absolutely blow away the re-mastered CD's put out in the early 90's. Unfortuantely, "No-Noise" was used on the remasters and completely left them lifeless and flat sounding.
I won't even go into the re-mixed CD's as that is a whole other subject......
