sanus NF = disappointing

I purchased a pair of Sanus NF-18:
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-cWfsUkpYwQ3/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=9&g=15810&I=051NF18C

and was disappointed that the "medium cherry" finish does NOT match the finish of my RT25i speakers, contrary to what the Polk website implies*, and contrary to what the Crutchfield rep assured me over the phone. The woodgrain is clearly different, the color is different, and the finish is different. The stands are not unattractive, but they do not match the speakers.

I'm posting this here in case I got a weird pair of stands. Can anyone confirm whether Sanus NF stands (in Cherry) actually match the Polk finish?

* see:
http://polkaudio.tranguard.com/long.asp?tgs=253476:34050568&cart_id=&item_id=2790
which states
"Available finishes: Black Lacquer Black (smooth-no wood grain), Natural Maple or Medium Cherry to match Polk RTi Series speakers..."

I have the LSi9 in cherry, and got the "matching" cherry NF stands as well.

No, they don't match exactly. You're not smoking crack ;) I think they look fine for me though, and are very sturdy.

    Here is a strange question....
If you are going to put a pair of RT55i's on Sanus Stands....
well, why not just go out and buy the RT800i's instead?

Its basically the same speaker in a tower configuration with better bass response due to the power port.

Cost for the RT55i is about $450.
Cost for the Sanus Stands is probably approaching $100.
Cost for the RT800i is $600 at Circuit City.

Anyway, I once had a set of Sanus Stands. I hated them.
Pressed particle board crap. You screw em together and if you
aren't very careful, the fake-wood cracks. Very disappointing.

I think they are a quality stand. They have a nice finish on them, and are built well.

    I've seen worse ;)

That's what I thought, which is why I have 800s. Floorstanding towers just look great too.

It's interesting to hear they're just particle board! Can anyone else confirm this, as I was looking into getting a pair.

For construction details, see the Crutchfield link in my original post.

In brief, the top and bottom plates are MDF, and the pillar appears to be solid wood.
