    he has a set of el34's from his Jolida, similiar to Shuguang just not branded i believe... The rec tube was supposed to be china made Shuguang by luck.... it just said made in china i think though... It was new however. I want a NOS eventually

    DON'T USE THE SHUGUANG RECTIFIER TUBE. The Shugs got the name "Fire cracker in bottle" from Dynaco owners. For some reason, they like to blow up on Dyna amps and take out some components at the same time.

    I think you'll really enjoy a NOS Mullard. BIG difference when I installed mine. Everything improved especially the bass.

    Which online store did you purchase it from? Contact them and let them know your situation. I'm sure they'll take it back and give you a refund. They'll probably make you pay shipping though. Or you could trade for a different one. The one I'm sending you is a Sovtek. A copy of my Mullard with ribbed plates but it's a smaller tube. The Mullard sounds much better though.

    Just wait until you start to play around with different output tubes. It gets even better. If you want a really warm sound with good bass, try the SED. For a powerful sound, the EH 6CA7 is a great tube.

    Keep in mind that new tubes need maybe 100 hours on them before they sound like they are supposed to. The ones I sent you probably only have a few hours on them but I'm not sure. The guy I bought them from said he upgraded them immediatly and I only had them in to test.
    Vinyl, the final frontier...

    Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... :D

    Oh ok, didnt even think about that... well they been being used all this morning, all afternoon yesterday and few hours last night.. gotta love that heat from the tubes in Florida... lol

    Yeah, Electro Harmonix. Even though the EL34 I'm sending you is Svetlana, they're made by the makers of EH (Reflektor). They purchased the Svetlana name. Now the REAL Svetlana is called SED.

    Your Svetlana sounds very similar to the EH EL34. I prefer the EH but you might like this one more.

    LOL we let ourselves suffer in the heat for good sound. However, I get a special feeling watching that glow in the cold winter months:).

    well i guess over a weeks worth of play time and the amp is still running perfectly, This thing stays right at bios voltage.. 1.56, 1.55 what ever i set it at, cant wait to get the other tubes to try out. Thanks again for all the help from everyone...

    Sounds cool. Looks like your ST-70 can hold a steady bias better than mine. Mine usually drifts +/-0.1V through out the day.

    Let me know how the new tubes sound when you get them. They should arrive very soon. Don't forget to lower the bias before installing them.
