    I do not remember how many ( a lot) records I ruined over the years by trying to put the stylus (needle) into the groove before a song started. So many records only had one or two good songs, especialy R&R records. CD players came along and I could use the remote to skip the fluff, and play the good. Music servers came along, and now I can make a playlist of songs I like.

    Personally, I am tired of the whiners who keep implying this is a bad thing. Wrong. It is a good thing. Why listen to crap if you don't have to.

    You think artists cut albums for the purpose of giving you ONE song that you'll listen to and disregard the rest? Isn't that a disservice to their "art"? Oh well, who cares, it's all about "me" and instant gratification now isn't it?

    Pal, I think your analogies are off base. Nobody is suggesting anything of the sorts of what your eluding to. BTW- from my perspective, I do listen for my personal gratification...not the artists. It's my money and I'll listen, read, or gaze upon what I like. If I like it, I may even dig deeper, listen to more songs, read more books, or visit more museums.

    Every thing is about personal gratification, that's why we have a variety in everything....that's why we strive not to have a "one size fits all" society. No ? That's why music servers, dacs, vinyl, reel to reel, cassettes, cd's, am radio, tubes, Ipods, all co-exist, to gratify the various users.
