Sean Kelly - Lighthouse Rocket. Sean was the leader of The Samples, a band out of Boulder, Co. I saw them in 1990 open for The Wailers band, and they stole the show and I actually saw the Wailers with their mouths dropped open in amazement at these Boulder white boys. Real up tempo reggae infused stuff, but this CD is Sean solo acoustic (more or less), a real good album with good SQ where Sean really shined. They could've really risen to heights but they/he lacked adequate promotion/agency, or their agents ripped them off, like many bands.

The Samples - Self Titled. Boulder, Colo. band from the late 80's and 90's fusing up-tempo reggae with rock.

I was admiring the great backup guitarists on the Beatles special last night. Somebody told me this morning that Steve Luthaker was one of the guitarists, and the other was Peter Frampton. I did not recognize him. I did recognize Don Was on bass.
-
I didn't recognize Frampton for some reason. Kept thinking this guy's good.

In January 1969, former Yardbirds members Keith Relf and Jim McCarty organised a new group devoted to experimentation between rock, folk, and classical forms. This quintet—Relf on guitar and vocals, McCarty on drums, plus bassist Cennamo, pianist Hawken, and Relf's sister Jane as an additional vocalist—released a pair of albums on Elektra (US) and Island (UK-ILPS 9112), the first one, titled simply Renaissance, being produced by fellow ex-Yardbird Paul Samwell-Smith.
Beginning in the late spring of 1970, as touring began to grind on them, the original band gradually dissolved. Relf and McCarty decided to quit performing, and Cennamo joined Colosseum. Hawken organised a new line-up to fulfil contractual obligations and complete the band's second album, Illusion, which was left unfinished.

''Out Of The Mist'' is an album by IllusionIllusion were intended to be a reunion of the original line-up of Renaissance (whose second album was titled Illusion), but singer and guitarist Keith Relf died before the project was realised. Jim McCarty moved from drums to play acoustic guitar and share vocals with Jane Relf, while Eddie McNeill replaced him on drums and John Knightsbridge took Keith Relf's place as guitarist following his death.

Paul, I'll try to remember to burn a copy of The Samples self titled album for you, I think you'd like it... I used to play it all the time but then I went a real long time without listening to the whole thing. When I put it on the other day, it was as good as I remember. Here's another one that should sound real good on tubed SDA's:

Never heard Isaak before (other than the one song), not sure if I'd dig it or not.

Love - the forever changes concert  hot band backing Arthur Lee!

Chris Isaak is a favorite on this thread, I'm sure others will pipe in on that. Usually very well produced and great SQ.
Now, for something completely different. Keef : Talk Is Cheap. Fantastic musicians. That song "Struggle" is doing it for me right now. -
