Just picked up a pair in really great condition. Grills are perfect and real walnut cabinets only have light scratches. Hooked them up to my Pioneer SX750 and Sony TT. They sound unbelievably perfect. Rumored to have Peerless tweeters and one of the flattest base curves ever tested by High Fidelity mag. Whatever that means? Sometimes you just have good luck! Maybe the wifey will be nice to me tonight! Thanks. D

Yup had a new pair back in 1977-78. PR has a screw-on weight also has a separate active EQ. They rocked for a shallow cabinet.

Yeah, and yes they should have Peerless cone AlNiCo tweeters.
Do you have the equalizer? If not, they shouldn't sound too perfect....

Some info (on the "Series III" version) from EV:

    Different tweeter by then...

Sound great as is. Equalizers are to be found on Ebay. Thanks. D

They are decent loudspeakers - I literally grew up with EV speakers in the hifi my parents had 'way back when; I am a pretty big fan - but my own tastes (FWIW) run to rather more vintage EV offerings...

If they sound great without equalizer, you're in for a treat when you get it. Has to be connected through tape monitor input, which many newer receivers don't have. Great speakers, especially for the size.
