2 pair polk audio 2.3 speakers - $500 (manhattan ks)

    http://ksu.craigslist.org/ele/4132931199.html

2 pair polk audio 2.3 speakers . 1st pair circa 1989 srs. 2nd pair 2.3 tl circa 1990. both pair need to go! 500.00 dollars cash only no games! both pair need restored or great for parts. come and get them. no pics sorry. call 785-223-3530 thx

NO AFFILIATION, but as the wife is out of town , I did give him a call:

Daniel is his name. He has these in a 2013 16x80 mobile home (also for sale). He's the original owner. Sold all his amps & feels his neighbors in the mobile home park would have complained IF he ran the 2.3s.

Said the 2.3tls have a bad capacitor. Said he's had ~ 5 guys call who backed off when he told them "they're the big ones." Says "= low WAF."

Hmmm, I told him you Polkies would want pics. He said he was on this forum some years back.

He also has a pair of DAHLQUIST DQ-10s sitting idle. Has sold all his Carver amps, only a CD player left in his rack.

Having recently done a round trip of 1350 miles for a pair of 1.2TLs, yes, I know what you mean. For me, this would be a similar trip of around 10 hrs each way.

^ I was serious. If I sent you $20 via paypal, would you be willing to go by and get his approval to take pics? I'm wondering how bad the cabinets are and how many drivers would need replacing. The crossovers on the TL's seem to be a definite issue that would have to be redone, but all in all $500 for 2 pairs of 2.3's might be worth an long weekend trip.

^ I didn't figure you were pulling my leg. No need to PayPal. I'm retired & so is the seller. I've had a lift limit of 50 #s since 1978, so I won't be moving the 2.3s any distance. He thought they weighed 135#. I'll load batteries in my camera & give him a call . . .

Hang on, you're in Johnson City! Home of East Tennessee State University's bluegrass music program? Any great concerts coming up? We have considered Johnson City as a place to retire. Any thoughts on that?

This is about the third time this guy has listed these, every time I have ask him to send me some pics, every time, no response. I would buy these in a heart beat, but I'm not making the trip without some pics to back up what he states.

Yes that Johnson City. I've got a friend in my church that graduated from that program and plays locally. Great place to retire for cost of living is reasonable, health care is better than average, no state income tax although local sales tax rate approached 10%. Be happy to talk to you about the area anytime- just pm contact info and I'll call you.

A pair of 2b's in Chula vista could use a home... The price looks more than right, but may be even cheaper seeing as though they are in a pawn shop.

Jesus Mystery, good find! I sent him/her both a text and an e-mail. Even if they're seriously destroyed and all I get out of them is a few backup midwoofers it's worth it.

Well I bought those RTA12's. Sorry to say I'm taking them out to the pasture... 2 scratchy voice coils, one of the MW's is a Realistic, top hats are destroyed, looks like some kind of liquid (a beverage) was spilled all over them as well as they are missing the interior pieces that make them hold their shape, wood is cracked and missing in some spots, veneer is trashed. I got one 6600X, 2 Peerless tweeters, and 2 12" PR's out of it. Even then one of the Peerless has a little dent in it.

At least you got some parts but for that price, it's still a great deal.

I hear you. It's difficult. I have two pallets full of cabinets (empty) that I picked up from an older gentleman this summer when he moved out of the area. No idea what I'm going to do with them - but I just can't bring myself to dumping them. All vintage stuff - but no Polk cabs. Mostly hardwood plywoods. Maybe, if I'm lucky, one of my sons will get a spark for audio and we can load them with something (wishful thinking likely).

Anyway, not sure if these have been posted yet, Monitor 10's in Sacramento.
